Dori Newman is a family law attorney at Banks & Brower, LLC. She practices in all areas of family law, including divorce, paternity, custody, adoption, guardianship, protective orders and Child in Need of Services (CHINS) actions. Prior to joining Banks & Brower, Dori handled hundreds of cases for the Department of Child Services (DCS) where she served as a local office attorney and became Chief Counsel of Region 11 in 2019. Before DCS, Dori and her husband started their own legal practice at Newman & Newman PC—which handled family law and criminal law cases.
Dori has a passion for helping families through the messy, and very emotional, family law process. Her goal is to counsel clients to resolve issues without legal intervention. If a resolution cannot be reached, Dori will fight for her client’s rights through the litigation process. She has children of her own and has personally gone through the family law process in her own life. This life experience helps Dori sympathize with her clients and looks out for their best interest, and the best interest of the children.
She received her undergraduate degree from Texas State University, graduated summa cum laude, and her legal education from the McKinney IU School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Dori has been a parent in a blended family for 16 years, has animals and house plants she cares for. In her spare time, Dori likes to spend time with family, kayak, hike, travel and tend to her many plants. She resides in Marion County.
