Brett Haacker is a licensed Indiana attorney with more than twenty years of courtroom experience and a deep commitment to helping families navigate some of life’s most challenging moments. He recently joined Banks & Brower to focus exclusively on family law, bringing proven expertise in divorce, child custody, parenting time, and child support matters. Clients appreciate Brett’s calm, straightforward approach and his ability to translate complex legal processes into clear, actionable steps that protect what matters most.
For ten years Brett served as a Local Office Attorney with the Indiana Department of Child Services, where he litigated high-stakes CHINS and Termination of Parental Rights cases, enforced and modified child support orders, and managed full-lifecycle family matters from intake through resolution. He also served on the Attorney Training Team, designing and delivering structured programs that mentored new attorneys in litigation skills, ethical advocacy, and trauma-informed representation. This combination of aggressive courtroom advocacy and genuine compassion equips him to fight effectively for clients while treating every family with the dignity and respect they deserve.
A longtime Shelbyville resident, Brett is personally dedicated to building stable futures for the families he serves. He understands firsthand how high-conflict situations affect parents and children, and he brings that perspective to every case at Banks & Brower. Whether negotiating settlements or standing beside clients in court, Brett’s goal remains the same: to deliver results with integrity and to be the steady, reliable advocate families can count on when they need it most.
Born and raised in Upstate New York, Brett received his law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law and has practiced law in both Indiana and New York.
